OUR MISSION
We love to create experiences where you will always be pleasantly surprised through great hospitality and service.
Since 2000, we have established a tradition of personalized service, fine dining and eco-friendly activities in an incomparable setting. Casa Palopó, loaded with art and culture, brightly painted walls, exquisite furnishings and local Guatemalan crafts merged with modern design, submerges guests into Guatemala’s rich culture.
Casa Palopó was originally a private home, until it was purchased by Guatemalan Billy Bickford in 2000 and turned it into a boutique hotel.
In 2005, a storm (Stan) hit Lake Atitlán, causing landslides damaging part of the hotel and the small home that was perched higher up the mountain. As part of the rebuilding process, Bickford built a large Villa, now located 150 steps above the main hotel.
Casa Palopó is now owned and operated by Claudia Bosch, a native Guatemalan. Who in 2010 checked-in the hotel as a guest, falling in love with the lake and the hotel. At the time it was refurbished to become a rustic chic boutique hotel.
Casa Palopó becomes the first Relais & Chateaux Hotel in Guatemala.
Casa Palopó starts remodeling all its areas and adding 6 more rooms becoming a 15 room boutique hotel.
The Villa is remodeled. Designer Katy Jay takes on the project and turns Casa Palopó's Villa into the perfect exclusive area on the hotel with its 3 suits, private living room, kitchen, deck and infinity pool. The garden gets redesigned by a landscape artist and Kinnik; the newest restaurant and first every lake side grill dinning experience opens!
We love to create experiences where you will always be pleasantly surprised through great hospitality and service.
The sustainability of our communities is essential for its proper development. This is the reason why we love being part of and getting involved with the Pintando Santa Catarina Palopo project, through which we ensure the growth, education and development of our community through painting and art.
